Today I was sent the details, from my friend Frank Haywood, for what is probably the ‘ultimate viral ebook’.
It’s called ‘Make Money Online for Newbies’ and, according to its author, Alex Mirabeau, you really can’t fail to make money with this.
Why? Because instead of the 1 – 4% conversion rate that most ebooks sell at, this one achieves something like 90%. Hmmm, somehow I doubt that will last, but I’ll come to that in a minute.![]()
This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this book. It appeared first as an ebook which ‘guaranteed’ to make you money just by giving it away free. What? How can you make money giving something away?
That’s the power of a viral product. Your ‘giveaway’ product contains a link which is coded with your affiliate ID so, when you give the product away to someone and they buy into the concept then you’ll receive the commission.
The trouble with the first offering of this ebook is that it contained nothing of value but the ebook itself. That is basically pyramid selling. And the trouble with all pyramid selling schemes is that the bottom of the pyramid starts to collapse when it reaches a certain size. Because people drop out when they start to see that the product itself is worthless.
That’s not quite the case with ‘Make Money Online for Newbies’. Alex has added a bunch of websites, some videos and other bits and pieces which mean that you do get something for the $27 your ‘reseller’ version of this ebook costs. If you are dying to read ‘Make Money Online for Newbies’ click here – that’s Frank’s affiliate link by the way, not mine, because I’m not interested in promoting this product.
But when you read through the ebook you’ll see that the products that you get with the book are not the main thrust of the sales promotion. The websites, videos and so on are presented almost as a bonus. The real value, it is suggested, is in your chance to give away your version of the ebook with your affiliate link so you get $27 from everyone who buys.
In other words it’s based on pure greed.
So, I hear you ask, if the seller gets the whole $27 what does the author, Alex, get? The answer is that every buyer gets added to his email list.
That’s what viral products are designed to do. Add to your email list.
If you want some viral products of your own then have a look at today’s Monday Madness offer. My feeling is that the BUZZ products are of rather more value than ‘Make Money Online for Newbies’, but you make up your own mind!
Hi Jonathan!
I have had a close look at the eBook, and while I agree that this is a pyramid thing I must say that the “free” bonuses are not bad.
In fact, some of the eBooks and other bonus material could be perfect as giveaways, so the total value of the package is not bad.
And while the interest in this pyramid eBook will fade, isn’t that also true for a lot of other digital stuff?
Every day something new, “unique” and “amazing” is
launched, and after a while most of these amazing offers are forgotten.
That’s Internet Marketing, I suppose…
Anyway, thanks for yet another interesting post on your blog!
Cheers,
Jan
Hi Jan
it’s true, there is some content in this book that might be worth something, even perhaps all of the asking price. But my main grouse is the way that the bonuses are not the aim of the book but just something to lend credence to the sale.
BTW the original Pyramid schemes involved commissions all the way up the line, much in the same way that MLM (Multi Level Marketing) does now. I’m not suggesting that this ebook is a Pyramid scheme as such, but it does rely on building a pyramid of sellers in order to be wildly successful.
