A couple of posts ago I wrote about typical marketing hype and whether it had any relevance to today’s buyers. The comments I received, both on this blog and by email, told me what I expected – people are, in general, fed up with the overblown BullSh*t that goes under the title of ‘Internet Marketing’ on many of the salesletters that they see everyday.
Now, as an affiliate, I do get to see some of these salesletters in advance when I receive JV offers, and there’s one coming up soon that is so hysterical I have to give you advance notice of it. The product is from Michael Cheney and goes under the moniker of ‘The Golden Thread’.
I’m not going to outline what the product does, or doesn’t do. You can catch a glimpse of what it aims to do by clicking here …

What I want to focus on today, however, is the sort of language that is being bandied about in Michael’s salesletter. For example…
not to mention…
Now if this is the sort of language that turns you on you’re going to love Michael’s ‘Cash Cannons’ description…
so it’s hardly surprising that…
when you find out it is going to cost you $1997 to avail yourself of Michael’s Cash Cannon ‘secret weapon’ strategy!
Now I can’t imagine many of you jumping on that bandwagon, even if the language of the salesletter does happen to appeal. So here’s something much more down to earth.
I was so incensed by this BS hype from Michael Cheney that I went out and found a product that will do exactly what it says on the tin. Here’s the salespage of what I found, and purchased out of my own pocket, yesterday…

As you’ll see it’s a complete contrast to the hype merchants – watch the videos – they’re honest and to the point. This is a site that tells you just what the product is, what it can do for you, and why you should buy it. ‘Nuff said?
What a huge contrast in the sites mentioned. I had received the hype filled sales page and nearly “wet myself” from laughing so hard!!
Does this crap ever end? I didn’t even finish reading the extra long copy because I just could not take it any more.
I’m sure that M.C. was offering a commission to this, but how in the world could I even begin to offer this
overpriced package to my list? I’ve worked long and hard to build a relationship with my subscribers, and then to offer something like this to them??
I think not! Sorry, I just ain’t going to do it.
Mr. Rileys product on the other hand is much better.
Yes, some hype is alright when used in the right way, and people have come to accept it as a part of marketing. Just use it in a way that isn’t so blatant.
I wouldn’t have a problem offering Mr Rileys product to my subscribers, but M.C., you should know better.
Have a great day!

So… Finish this sentence (answers on the back of a postcard … well down here would do!)
Hold on to your….
Hi Jonathan,
As I’m a fan of Kevin Riley’s work in any case I have gladly paid my Paypal dues to get his Home Study Course. I don’t know how i missed hearing about it – probably too busy admiring Michael Cheney’s new house!!
I have no desire to live in either Japan or Scotland, and I’ve already lived in Canada, Malta, and Germany so my Home Business is going to begin its merry life here in Ancient York, UK.
Thanks for your interesting and enjoyable insights into the On Line World. I’m determined to be a Do-er now, after vowing to be one during 7 years of Dreaming away Online with little to show for it. At 63 it’s not TOO late, I’ll get back to you with my progress (which I’m going to target realistically – allowing for this being my major season for my Day Job – selling Candles and Gifts!!!0.
Thanks again – keep doing what you are doing, it helps!!
